My handmade paper crafts — one-of-a-kind greeting cards, journals whose covers are watercolor-painted, bookmarks — are among the many, many items on offer at the Fogbelt Studio Holiday Sale this coming weekend — F 12-8, S 10-6 and S 12-6 — at 2528 25th Avenue (between Ulloa and Vicente) in San Francisco. This is the 17th year that my friend and artist Kathy Dybeck has held this very popular, fun event at her teaching studio.
And the following weekend (December 11-13) finds me (among many others!) and my watercolors at the Art Guild of Pacifica’s Open Studio event, taking place at the Sanchez Art Center, 1220 Linda Mar Boulevard in Pacifica. Hours are F 7-9 and S-S 11-5.

For the first time, my work is appearing in an online-only college literary magazine.
It’s called “Switchback” and it’s a project of the MFA Program in Creative Writing at the University of San Francisco.
My watercolors “Memory” and “California Natives in Golden Gate Park” can be seen in issue #10, “Figurative vs. Literal.” Please go to www.swback.com and click on the title to get to the title page, where the paintings are; also, I’m profiled under “Contributors” on the home page.

The National Show that I chaired for the Marin Society of Artists opened on August 2 and closes on August 30. Please make time to stop by, as this is a first-class, museum-quailty, contemporary experience. Competition was tough — there were 730 entries from all over the country, and only 110 made the cut. Our juror was Scott Shields, the chief curator of the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento. We’ve got all sorts of paintings and photographs — prints — sculptures and textiles — assemblages and installations — ceramics and glass. It’s a beautiful and unusual show.
The MSA gallery is located in the Marin Art and Garden Center, 30 Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, in Ross, CA. Hours are M-Th 11-4 and weekends noon-4.
My group show “Visions” continues until September 10 at the Marin Civic Center, 1st and 3rd floor galleries. Open weekdays 9-5.

“Lake on Fire” can be seen at the San Francisco Women Artists’ current show, “Art at Any Age,” an annual collaboration with the Eldergivers organization. The gallery is at Sacramento @ Laurel — open T-W-Th 12-5 and F-S 12-5:30 — and the show runs until August 1.
In San Rafael, the Marin County Fair is over until next year, but the “Visions” show with six of my pieces continues weekdays 9-5 until September 10 in the 1st and 3rd floor exhibition areas at the Marin County Civic Center.
The Pacifica and the Connecticut shows continue until July 13 and July 24, respectively.
And mark your calendars for Sunday, August 2 — opening day gala for the Marin Society of Artists Third National Exhibition. I am the chair of this show, which has occupied me since last November, and the 112 works that make up the show combine for an edgy and unusual art-viewing experience. We’ll celebrate with an open-to-all reception from 2-4 PM at our gallery in the Marin Art and Garden Center in Ross, where our juror, Scott Shields of the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, will award prizes and describe how he made his selections from the many hundreds of entries from all over the counry. The show runs until August 30. The gallery is open M-Th 11-4 and weekends 12-4.
